Shaggy Dog Cushion | Monochrome VII
by Mourne Textiles
Handwoven, in Northern Ireland, on Mourne's Kentish loom; the Shaggy Dog cushion is fabricated using traditionally spun Donegal yarns and some experimental techniques. A playful and cosy cushion with a very unusual and exciting weave. The cloth used in this cushion was originally designed and produced for Irish fashion designer Sybil Connolly and was first used in her 1956 A/W collection receiving much acclaim.
Produced by Mourne Textiles, a family-run workshop situated at the foot of the idyllic Mourne mountains. Founded in 1954 by the legendary Gerd Hay-Edie, whose many achievements include advisor to the Norwegian Home Industries, producing the very first double-weave furniture fabrics used by Gordon Russell, & a long-standing relationship with designer Robin Day and Hille & Co. Now in its third generation Mourne has a reputation as exceptional weavers. The combination of Grandmother, Mother and Son as well as a passion for weaving has created a global venture with products of incredible quality and integrity that will last a lifetime. We believe they are one of the finest producers in Ireland, exceptional crafts people with a marvelous modern aesthetic and design-led approach.
